Inaugural of the demand-driven skill development programme for the youth of Nagaland construction sector was held on 18th July 2022 at DC’s conference hall, Noklak.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Noklak, Hiazu Meru mentioned that Nagaland is a salaried economy where societies look towards government jobs for employment. However, employment in the government sector is saturated and as such, he encouraged the youth to learn skills for gainful employment in the private sector as well.
Hiazu Meru said people of Noklak are naturally gifted with handwork such as handicraft making, blacksmiths, pottery making and even building modern wooden houses. He hoped that the training in the construction sector would benefit many youths to be equipped with skills for gainful employment.
He thanked the Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Zynorique Initiative Society for organizing the training on the demand-driven skill development programme for the youths of Nagaland in the construction sector here in Noklak.
DC also elaborated on Social Security Welfare Schemes which are available in the bank to save their earnings and insurance. DC wished for the successful conduct of the training.
District Employment Officer, Tuensang Nagaland T. Yimlikumzuk elaborated on the importance of skill training for the youths in the district. While explaining the training programme, Yimlikumzuk said when someone is trained and got the certificate, one may face a struggling period to move forward. He advised during such time one should never give up but rather work hard for a better future.
Training introduction was shared by Ar. Shreyas Vijayan where Vice Principal, ITI, Tuensang Er. Netenba Ajem chaired the programme. Pastor Penglang, Longdon Baptist Church, Noklak town pronounced invocation prayer.
The training programme is being conducted by the Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Zynorique Initiative Society (ZIS). The week-long training program will culminate on 23rd July 2022.
Altogether 50 youths are attending the week-long training under Chetan Sharma (team leader) Ar. Shreyas Vijayan (Head trainer) and Lupoyi Tunenu (trainer).
