Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Chairperson of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) has convened its meeting on 25th August, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. in the C. Chongshen Committee Room, Assembly Secretariat to finalise the Provisional Programme for the Ninth Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly scheduled to commence from 1st September, 2026.

In commemoration of the 80th Independence Day on 15th August, 2026, the Government of Nagaland granted remission of sentences to specified categories of prisoners convicted by Courts, other than Court Martial, having criminal jurisdiction in the State of Nagaland and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment.

Nagaland is gearing up to observe the 80^th Independence Day in a befitting manner along with the rest of the country. In the State capital Kohima, the ceremonial function will be held at the Nagaland Secretariat Plaza at 9 a.m.

Deputy Commissioner Mon, Wennyei Konyak, NCS, has informed the general public of Mon Town, that the 42 Assam Rifles will be conducting firing and explosive practice at the Unit Firing Range, Tactical Headquarters Mon from 10^thAugust to 31^st August 2026 from 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM.
