SIR Observer for 13-Pughoboto, Asangla Imti, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, School Education and SCERT, visited the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Pughoboto, on Friday, October 16, 2026 to inspect the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) activities in the election district.

During the visit, the observer held a meeting with the DEO, Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Supervisors, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and representatives of political parties to review the progress of the revision exercise.

Asangla Imti stressed the importance of maintaining clean electoral rolls and ensuring a transparent and credible electoral process. She emphasised the need for proper verification of electors’ documents, particularly those of non-locals, and underscored that non-nationals must not be included in the electoral roll under any circumstances.

She stated that clean electoral rolls are fundamental to the conduct of free and fair elections and can be achieved only when all eligible voters are correctly included in the list. She also highlighted the crucial role of BLOs in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the electoral roll.

The observer further stated that maintaining a clean electoral roll is the collective responsibility of all officials under the DEO establishment, with the process beginning at the polling station level through the dedicated efforts of BLOs.

The meeting was chaired by ADC & DEO, James Khulu Tikhir, who briefed the participants on the purpose of the Observer’s visit and the importance of reviewing the progress of electoral roll revision activities in the subdivision.

As part of the inspection, the observer also visited Polling Station No. 29, Mishilimi-P, at Mishilimi village accompanied by SDO & ERO Yithachu Thur, AERO and BLOs, to assess the implementation of the ongoing SIR activities at the grassroots level.
