Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA), to encourage indigenous cooking style, organized cooking competition, documentation and declaration of Chakhesang dish cum interpretation and display of Chakhesang attires on 20th July at Phek Town to promote indigenous food where Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, MLA and leader of NPF Legislature Party was the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he said people need to embrace the healthy lifestyle which was handed down by their forefathers and urged the gathering to promote traditional foods as they are both delicious and healthy.
Phek Deputy Commissioner, Razouvolie Dozo, NCS expressed gratitude to the organizing committee for documenting the indigenous dishes and said that the program has not only created a great event for the people to improve and showcase their skills.
CMA Publicity & Information Secretary, Wezope-u Elah chaired the programme. The keynote address was conveyed by CMA President, Zhonelü Tünyi, and further CPO president, Vezuhu Keyho extended greetings.
The judges for the cooking competition were: Vechisalü Nukhu, Advisor CMA; Dukhrulu Lohe, Project Officer, DRDA Phek; Neingupe-u K. Rhakho; Kekhrongulo-u Kapfo, former Treasurer NMA; Mütünülü Keyho, Naga Chef, Season 8th winner; Vesupra Kezo, Superintendent of Police, Phek, Nagaland and Vekhosayi Nyekha, President, Tenyimia Union Dimapur.
The winner of the competition was Pfutsero Town Mothers Association with a cash prize of Rs. 30,000 which was donated by CPO, while Secheku Mothers’ Welfare Society secured 2nd position, receiving Rs. 20,000, while 3rd was won by Khuza/Kezha Area Mothers’ Association with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 and 4th place, was handed to Chakhesang Women Society Kohima and was awarded Rs. 10,000.
