MON TOWN:

Teachers' Day celebration brought together all Government and Private Schools of Mon Town at the Town Hall on September 5th, 2023. The program witnessed the presence of DC Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, as the Special Guest.

In his speech, DC Mon emphasized the inseparable connection between teaching and teachers. He encouraged students to become better learners by fostering a willingness to learn, remaining ever ready to acquire knowledge, and displaying dedication towards their goals. He culminated his address with three poignant points: The contribution of a teacher is immeasurable, irreplaceable, and priceless, the status and position of a teacher are incomparable, and the contribution of a teacher is the most significant and unparalleled, surpassing any status.

Following his speech, the Special Guest bestowed the prestigious District Award 2023 upon four deserving awardees: N. Nokhu Konyak P/T from GMS Loakho; T. Chsmwang Konyak P/T from GMS Chenmoho; Shoiyan Konyak P/T from GPS 'A' Naginimora and Nafisa Ali, Teacher at St. Joseph's School Mon (a private school).

N. Nokhu, representing the awardees, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Department for selecting them for the District Award 2023. He encouraged his fellow teachers to be even more sincere and dedicated to the teaching profession.

Earlier, the event began with an opening song presented by Konjong Higher Secondary School students, followed by warm greetings from Moala Aier, DEO (charge) of Mon. She underlined the significance of Teachers' Day in our country, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. Radha Krishnan. She lauded teachers as mentors, the guiding lights who lead young minds through the labyrinth of knowledge, concluding with the quote, "A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning."

Other program highlights included a group song by GMS Mon Town 'D', choreography by GMS Mon Town 'A', a special performance by the Police Unit School in Mon, a dance by Kids Crew from St. John's Higher Secondary School in Mon, and a song in praise of teachers titled "Proud of You" by GHSS Mon Town. The event concluded with a prayer for teachers led by T. Moishen, Associate Pastor of Women's Ministry at KBCM.
