The State level Teachers’ Day celebration, organised by the Department of school Education, was held at Morung hall, Directorate of School Education, Kohima on 5th September with Advisor, School Education, K.T. Sukhalu, IAS (Retd) as the Guest of honour.

Addressing the celebration, Sukhalu congratulated all the awardees and added that the Government make policies, but the implementation part lay with the teachers. He said that teachers are the builders of nations and education is an ever changing aspect, and both subject matter and the methods involved need constant up gradation and called on the teachers to bring out the best of a child. He added that the current pandemic has given a clear picture as to how education needs to adapt with the change of time and the need to prepare to embrace such changes with time where inclusive education can create an inclusive society.

The Advisor mentioned that with the introduction of the new Education Policy 2020, more changes are taking place rapidly and the primary level should be able to create a strong foundation and where teachers are required to be able to nurture the potentialities of every students. He urged the teachers to not only emphasize on academic learning but also to emphasize on character building and added that to have a better future, there is a need to introspect the role of educators in the society.

Sukhalu released the DoSE newsletter, which will be published quarterly on the role of the Education Department, during the programme.                                         

Welcome speech was delivered by Director School Education, WonthungoTsopoe. Special Secretary, KevilenoAngami gave the introductory note which was followed by message on Teachers’ day from the Governor and Chief Minister of Nagaland. Vote of thanks was delivered by Additional Director, RazouseyiVese.
