Valedictory programme for Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) trainings was held at the Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Nagaland on 10th August 2022.
Advisor IPR & Village Guards, S Keoshu Yimkhiung addressing the program said that such trainings are very important and relevant and that he is happy to see the enthusiasm of the participants. He added that if such trainings are held regularly the younger generation can make good use of the opportunity and it will go a long way in molding their career.
Secretary IPR, Maria Yanthan exhorting the gathering encouraged the participants to explore their creative side and not only focus on getting government jobs. She also said that Nagas are very talented and encouraged the youths to venture out from their comfort zone and work hard and make a name for themselves. She also lauded the department on the successful completion of the first phase of the training.
Additional Director, Dzüvinuo Theünuo chairing the program said that IPR is one of the oldest departments in the state and since its inception the Department has been playing a vital role as the public relation agency and publicity wing for the government. She said that FTII commemorating the country-wide celebrations under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav decided to advance the cause of film education by conducting online short courses free of cost for scheduled tribes participants. She said that since the training was to be conducted through online mode it required a lot of technological support and uninterrupted internet connectivity. Therefore with the support of IT&C department the first training on basic smartphone filmmaking was conducted at Directorate of IT&C and the remaining three trainings where held at Directorate of IPR. She said that IPR is a technology driven department and the trainings have helped in enhancing the capabilities of the people working in the department and the trainees at large.
Joint Director, Asangla Imsong sharing on the overview of the program highlighted in brief the profiles of the resource persons for Smartphone film making (Ajmal Jami), screenplay writing (Sudipto Acharyya), screen acting: (Anita Salim )and Film appreciation (Avinash Roy and Jasmine Kaur Roy). She also thanked the participants and hoped that they will take back the basic ropes of what the FTII and the department had to offer and flourish in their chosen fields. She further informed that the second phase of the training will be held eventually.
Trainees sharing their experiences said that the trainings have taught them how through smartphones one can create outstanding contents and through the lens of a phone it can help us frame the world, its characters and scenarios for different audiences.
The trainees also said that they were coached on teamwork through assignments like short video making, filmmaking, film grammar, screenplay editing from where we discover their own methods and voices. The trainees thanked the department for organizing such valuable training.
A total of 51 certificates were issued to all the participants by FTII upon successful completion of the trainings. A short film titled ‘Rest’ which was directed and produced by the trainees was screened during the program.
