Under the Aegis of "Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav", the Food Safety Authority, Department of Health & Family Welfare organized a Walkathon Cum Eat Right Mela with the theme "Food safety is shared responsibility. You don't have to eat less, you just have to eat right", which was flagged off at Classic Island, Kohima on 26th July 2022.

Principal Director, DoHFW, Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi mentioned that the Eat Right Movement is being organized to disseminate information, and awareness, empower citizens for behavioral exchange towards healthy food including fortified food and take conscious decisions to support good health for a healthy Nation.

Minister, DoHFW, S. Pangyu Phom said that the event was important as it would spread the message across the state and the nation to have healthy food and to combat negative nutritional trends to beat lifestyle diseases. This event would help in mainstreaming the masses in adopting fortified food in one's diet. He also appealed to the concerned authorities to cross-check every food essentials that are coming into the State and to take strict actions against defaulters.

The minister asked the citizens to pledge to "Eat safe, eat healthy and eat sustainable". He thanked the Food and Safety Authority, DoHFW for organizing the event in collaboration with the Centre of Health Research and Innovation, Delhi.

The walkathon commenced from Classic Island, near the Red Cross building, and culminated at St. Peter's School where the Eat Right Mela demonstration was held. The objective of the Mela was to spread awareness about the good and bad intake of food and to bust the myths about fortified food.
