Longleng observed world Population Day cum launching of world Population fortnight on 11th July 2022 under the theme "Adopt Family Planning Measure and write a New Chapter of Progress",  Deputy Commissioner Longleng, Dharam Raj IAS was the special guest, the program was held at District Hospital (DH) premises.

DC, while addressing the program, congratulated CMO Doctors and staff for initiating such programs and expressed his happiness to have such a gathering, especially women. He said when it comes to family planning and children, women are the one who suffers the most both physically and mentally.

The DC also asserted how population growth hurts the progress of a nation and states with limited land and resources and informed that as a representative of the government. It becomes difficult for the government to provide infrastructure and other facilities to the people when more villages and wards are created and urged the gathering to adopt family planning.

He was optimistic that by controlling population growth we would have world-class quality infrastructure and health care facilities like other advanced countries where they maintain population growth. So it is our responsibility and duty to realize the problems faced by the government and contribute towards nation building by adhering to the policies and programmes of the Government, he added.

Dr. Ademla Tinu, SMO (Obst. & Gynae.) DH Longleng highlighting the importance of family planning in brief said India was the first country to adopt and launch national protection on family planning in 1952, over the years the program has reached every nook and corner of our country including PHCs, Sub Centers, Dispensary and even urban Health Centres. It aims to establish Indian population growth to improve the reproductive health system of the country to reduce the maternal new natal and infant mortality rates and the social development of our country.

Family planning is a practice of controlling (1) The number of children in a family and (2). Controlling the interval between the children, using contraception, and voluntarily sterilization, family planning also emphasizes and highlights the importance of spacing and keeping at least two years between deliveries, birth after a gap of more than five years and less than two years affects negatively both mother and child, adoption of family planning practice improves the financial condition of any family, it also improves the health and welfare of the family and thereby it contributes effectively to our nation social-economic progress.

The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Obangjungla, CMO Longleng, Keynote address was delivered by Dr. Imnameren Phom, DPO (RCH/UIP), K. Niamla Phom, woman Pasto LTBC pronounced dedicatory prayer, vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Kibangkumba, MS DH Longleng the program was chaired by Burnemla.
