Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Phek observed World Water Day at Mutsale Village under Phek Block on 22nd March 2022, under the theme “Groundwater: Making the invisible visible”.
Er. Weshusie Pojar, JE PHED Phek, briefed on the theme of the event. He also spoke on conservation of water, water quality issues, ill effects of consuming contaminated water. Pojar further highlighted on the campaign “Catch the Rain, where it falls, when it falls”, and urged the community to practice rainwater harvesting, to create the harvesting structures suitable to the village as well as climatic condition.
Vekhorayi, (CWWS-NEIDA) Implementing Support Agency (ISA), spoke on the importance of Water Sanitation and Hygiene. He also shared on the significance and benefits of groundwater recharge through Springshed Development, the project undertaken by NEIDA in collaboration with various departments.
VDB Secretary Vengoi Nienu gave welcome address while SDO PHED, Phek, Er. Vezhoyi Ringa, proposed vote of thanks. The program was chaired by Abigail Ritse, Sanitation & Hygiene Consultant DWSM, PHED Phek.
The participants also took part in cleaning of traditional wells in and around the village.
