Nagaland Chief Minister highlighted various initiatives being taken up by the state government while delivering the Republic Day address at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza on 26th January 2026. Addressing the people of the state during the Republic Day celebration programme that was streamed Live on the official Youtube channel of the State government, Dr. Rio mentioned that the Department of Social Welfare has ensured operationalization of One Stop Centre (OSC) in all the 17 districts and the department has also duly framed and officially notified the Nagaland Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) rules 2025 on 2nd December 2025. The Department of Food and Civil Supplies has achieved 100% online allocation and 100% Supply Chain Management.

The Chief Minister stressed on the Healthcare access in Nagaland which has expanded and strengthened through the implementation of Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS). He said that over 5.78 lakh PM-JAY and CMHIS (General) cards and 1.92 lakh CMHIS (EP) cards have been issued, benefiting more than one lakh people, with claim payouts exceeding 450 crores since inception.

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is transforming healthcare delivery by digitally registering health facilities and professionals, improving access, transparency, and efficiency, the CM noted adding that preventive healthcare has also been prioritised, with a MoU signed with FSSAI to build a robust food safety ecosystem in the state.

For ensuring that the State’s development remain on the fast lane, it is crucial to strengthen the roads and other infrastructure, the CM stated. In the current year, the PWD (Roads & Bridges) is undertaking 11 road projects under NESIDS covering a length of 205.92 km. Under the Special Assistance to State for Capital Investment (SASCI) during 2025-26, work on 1 (one) RCC Bridge of 25 metre span, and 56 road projects of length 463.05 km amounting to 382.20 crore are ongoing. Under PMGSY scheme for Rural Roads, 545.12 km of road is being taken up for construction using the new eco-friendly FDR technology, he said.

In Power sector, the transformation capacity of the existing 132/66/33kV, 200 MVA Nagarjan Sub-station, Dimapur has been successfully upgraded to 350 MVA. The project, sanctioned by MDoNER under NESIDS (OTRI), was inaugurated by the Union Minister for Communications and DoNER on 5th December 2025. Installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) is under implementation to establish fast and reliable communication between various EHV Substations and generating stations across the State and with the State Load Despatch Centre (SLDC) and North Eastern Regional Load Despatch.

The PHE Department under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) has been successful in providing more than 3.41 lakh Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) as on November 2025 covering more than 1100 rural villages/ habitations.

The Department of Industries & Commerce, with support from the Ministry of Textiles, is constructing Individual Worksheds which will benefit 154 weavers and is implementing key infrastructure projects under SASCI, including two Food Processing Incubation Centres at Toluvi and Tuensang, an Incubation Centre for Startup and Entrepreneurship at Ganeshnagar, Dimapur and a 1-km connectivity link from the Modern Aggregation Centre (Gati Shakti) at Longnak, Mangkolemba to NH-702D.

The CM said that the department of Underdeveloped Areas (DUDA) has successfully implemented Iconic Projects across the six Eastern Districts. A key cultural initiative undertaken by the Department was the construction of the Konyak Heritage Complex in Mon District, supported by NEC. This Infrastructure aims to preserve the unique architectural and cultural heritage of the Konyak tribe. The Hornbill Festival - Mon Edition, from 8th -10th December, 2025 was organized at Konyak Heritage Complex, Mon.

The Art and Culture Department implemented the Scheme for construction of Children and Adolescents' Libraries and Digital Infrastructure under SASCI. Libraries have been set up across the State of Nagaland which was officially launched by the Chief Minister on Statehood Day, 1st December, 2025.

The disaster management capabilities in the State got strengthened with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) Home Department, Government of Nagaland building the "ELIONA", a dedicated high performance super computer architecture designed to transform Nagaland disaster risk governance by enabling real time high resolution modelling of rainfall, atmospheric, landslide susceptibility and hydrology data.
