In pursuance of the letter received from the Home Department, Nagaland, Khoma vide NO.HOME/VC-3/2002 (pt) dated Kohima the 5th April, 2024, regarding peaceful conduct of polls during the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2024, wherein under Section 186& Section 353 of IPC nobody has the authority to restrain or obstruct any person in discharging their public function or to exercise his or her vote and whoever assaults or use criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty shall be punished with imprisonment.

Further, as per the provisions of Section 134B the Representation of the People Act, 1951, no person (other than the Returning Officer, the Presiding Officer, any Police Officer and any other person appointed to maintain peace and order at a polling station who is on a duty at the polling station) can, on a polling day, go armed with arms as defined in the Arms Act, 1959, of any kind within the neighbourhood of a polling station. If any person contravenes these provisions, he is liable to imprisonment for a term, which may extend to two years with fine, or with both. The offence is cognizable.

And further, as per the Election Commission of India guideline, no unauthorized person is allowed within the radius of 200 metres of the Polling Station. Action will be taken against the defaulters as per the legal provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
