WORLD MALARIA DAY OBSERVED AT KOHIMA

World Malaria day was observed on 25th April 2024 at the Secretariat Conference Hall Kohima, under the Theme "Accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world ".

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Director cum Mission Director, NHM, DH&FW Dr. E. Motsuthung Patton highlighted about how India has made a remarkable efforts in eliminating Malaria and how mortality rate has come down drastically. He also lauded the efforts made by the Health workers, ASHA and surveillance workers. 

He also spoke about the sustainable development goals and how India is aiming to achieve its target of eliminating Malaria by 2030. 

He also talked about how children under five years of age, migrant workers, Refugees and indigenous people are mostly impacted by Malaria. 

In the programme, two best ASHA and two best surveillance workers from Kohima district were felicitated; Mhalerovi from (Rusoma/ Chedema) and Diezenuo from (Keyake/ Daklane) bagged the first and second prize respectively under surveillance workers category and kikrusi from (Thizama) and Temsujungla from (A.G.) bagged the first and second prize respectively under ASHA workers category. 

The programme was chaired by Director (Health), DH&WF, Dr. Akuo Sorhie and vote of thanks by Addl. Director & SPO (NCVBDC), DH&FW, Dr. R. Chubala Aier.
